So when I was growing up, my Uncle John would always stop by 7-11 for a big gulp almost every time he got in the car. For some reason I picked up his bad habit. Of course I can't just get the average size cup, I have to get the biggest cup they have... which leads me to my most recent mod... I am upgrading my center console with its mere mortal size cup holders to this beauty which should be able to hold my 44 or 52 ouncer:
It think that one does top them all for cup holder size. You'll be able to drink out of 55-gallon drums now
For more on this topic (how it goes on and off, etc.), if anyone is interested, I posted a thread about changing my Beverage Mate for a different console (I believe yours is the circa 2008-present one; I chose the 2--3-2005-ish one).
Ha ha, I notice you had the "self-launching cup holder" model of console before you upgraded. I had that same one in a previous van. Who designed those cup holders? I mean, had they ever used a cup
(For those who have not had the pleasure, any cup that you put in the larger section (which is basically all cups), immediately "self launches" and tips over into the smaller section upon acceleration, deceleration, turning, etc. I still have to restrain myself from automatically reaching over to steady my cup (with the new console).
(Although if anyone is suffering with this style, I did put some slices of pool noodle in the smaller sections which helped about 75%.)
Thanks Hoose! Unfortunately, that's about $225 Canadian by the time it gets to me, although that is virtually brand new...Think I might call a few wreckers, maybe I'll get lucky but I appreciate the effort!
I looked for a year... wrecking yards, swap meets... even van conversion builders here in RV country for new model "take outs". I finally pulled the trigger on a new one. Prices have been up and down over the years. $149 is not bad for new. Good luck in your search!
