Chinook RV

My husband -Gabbi here on the forum - and I have been hard at work fixing up our 1997 Concourse. And she is looking eady to roll now!

Gabbi gave you other info re: a new converter, vinyl floor, platform for the bed, etc., in another thread. This thread is more about the cosmetic improvements. I finally made curtains for the Chinook. My hope is to full time in this in just a few years, so curtains were a necessity.

We got solid, custom-sized metal rods from a company in Atlanta. They also made the brackets for us so we could mount them behind the wood valence (we previously removed the old, dirty, broken blinds).

I bought curtain fabric and black-out liner from a store locally. My hope was to use rings, but I could not find any small enough so they would stay behind the valence. Therefore, I had to sew a casing.

The next big project, after stores open, is to build a storage level on the bed platform. The mattress will rest on that.

Results below. The one of the bracket is to show the placement behind the valence.

Very nice job on the curtains! Making curtains is not as easy as one may think. Our Chinook came out in 72 with curtains and also ties to hold them in place when open. The ties are very helpful when driving with the windows open.

Thank you. You are correct - there is a bit of work to making curtain. I actually took them down today just to cut them back (the fullness a bit. They are a bit too full to tie back. Now they tie back perfectly - making driving safer. With the black-out lining I did not need as much fullness as I originally thought.

By the way - the valence hides a multitude of sewing sins!

Wow ! They look outstanding. Great idea regarding the rod and hooks you got manufactured to custom fit the space. And the curtains look amazing
