110 power questions...

Does the generator have to be on to use 110 power at rest areas? I have a nebulator for asthma breathing treatments I use 3 times a day, we are about to purchase a chinook for the first time and this is a very important question to us...
We will use this chinook mostly for freeway travel, I cant fly anymore, any suggestions...

For most Chinook's, yes.. you need to run the generator or be plugged into shore power for 110 to work. However, some people install an inverter to be able to run small 100 things from the batteries. I don't know how much juice your appliance needs to run. Do you know the watt draw? amps? anything?

I don't know about nebulator, but for CPAP, I know a few people use the direct 12V DC to power the machine. I assume the nebulator has a DC power supply of some sort? You can loss 10-40% of the electricity if you go from clean 12V DC from the battery, to 110V AC off the inverter, and back down to 12V DC off the converter that your machine came with. In addition to the inefficiency, you also have to deal with issue related to how clean the AC needs to be. Most economical inverter are using modified sine wave. So it is best to use direct power from the battery if possible.
