scratches on refrigerator

Well we had a good trip this weekend into Oklahoma from east Texas but had a couple of blunders. I let a fishing rod holder fall over and into the refrigerator door on my 1998 Concourse. It is a black door so about a 18inch "white" scratch is very visible and ugly now. Does anyone know how to remove or buff out that scratch? It is very unsightly!! I am very mad at myself!!

It all depends on the depth of the scratch! You may be able to remove a trivial scratch, but deep scratches are very difficult if not impossible to eliminate from plastic/acrylic.
When I owned a picture framing business we would remove MINOR scratches from acrylic using Novus scratch remover and polish. It's available from Amazon. I tried other products but this one was probably the least worst option.

We sometimes touch up scratches in black anodized machined parts with a Sharpie (shh don't tell anyone). If you want it perfect, usually the whole panel can be removed and you can replace it with whatever you like.
But since your rig is essentially pristine, you might want to just leave the scratch. In my experience, it's good to have at least one minor problem at all times; it reduces the likelihood of more problems (being superstitious is a character flaw, I know

).

Thanks for the replies. I restore old cars but never had to deal with mirror like finishes on plastic. I did drag out one of my bottles of NU-FINISH polish/wax/rubbing compound and thank goodness was able to rub the whole scratch out!!! Also saw where you can replace the whole panel if needed. That is comforting to know for any future booboos!!

My panel was scratched by the previous owner. I am embracing the patina.

Minor imperfections indicate the hand-made nature of our product - no two are alike!

Theres no need to buff out scratches or buy a new one. Simply remove the panel from the fridge and flip it over so that the back side is your new front side.

Theres no need to buff anything or buy a new one. Simply remove the panel from the fridge, flip it over so the back becomes your new front, reinstall.

Hi Flame - I have the original black plastic panels from my old Dometic fridge. I replaced them with stainless steel panels and then replaced the original fridge with a 12/110 volt model. If you want the panels you can have them for free plus shipping. PM me if interested.

I have a large scratch on mine too. I pretty much left it alone but it has always bugged me. I have that Nu-Finish polish product that I have used on my windshield, so I will give it a try on the fridge. Good idea!
