If you got to Las Cruces, it should be pretty close to White Sand. I think they have tent camping overnight, if you are interested. See if you have a board that you can use to slide down the sand.

Rokrover, you sold me on Bisbee and the Queen Mine RV Park but I didn’t bring enough Xanax to get me underground voluntarily. That will happen in due time. Ha. I’ll stop in Tombstone for a few pictures.

BG, I took a few pictures in ‘square ‘ mode as a test.

We stopped at Petroglyph National Monument for a quick look at ancient graffiti. I played it safe and stayed in the lower levels because of my Bozo feet. I plan to go to another section of the park to see the volcanos.

Enchanted Trails RV Park was a nice place to stay. Camping World and La Mesa RV is next door. They rent out these RV’s during the summer. Great job restoring the interiors.

May I suggest the following to fix the sideways thumbnails of attached pictures? Try reducing the file size before uploading to this site. I note your jpegs are still full sized around 6 MB (3,024 x 4,032 pixels).

A smaller file, say no more than 0.5 MB (around 1,344 x 1,000 pixels), is more than adequate for viewing on websites and its thumbnail should appear normally. This worked for me. Cheers, Ted

Been enjoying your photos Since you asked for suggestions...

Did a trip to NM a few years back. I'd love to go back to White Sands - I spent a stormy day there watching the wind blow the sand around with spectacular clouds flying overhead. I loved driving through Lincoln National Forest, too, up the hill from Alamogordo. It's like a taste of the Black Hills plonked down in the middle of New Mexico - lots of tall pines and aspen and meadows in the valleys.

Loved the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, near Tucson, which is part botanical garden (of desert plants), part zoo, with great views. They have an aviary full of humming birds.

On the way back east, there are some nice campgrounds in the mountains around Tetons/Yellowstone which are cheaper than staying in the parks. (I stayed at Falls Campground along Hwy 26 - it was very nice, with electrical hookup) Bit of a drive into the parks, but pretty scenery on the way.

Love the Hills - they're still my heart's home after many years away.

I don't even know where to start for Colorado Loved Mesa Verde, Breckenridge, Garden of the Gods, rafting on the Arkansas.

I really enjoyed the Pima Air Museum and the Aircraft Boneyard tour near Tucson as well.

Rokrover, I have an iPhone and iPad to work with, how do I downsize the picture size? I take it they wer posted sideways again. With a pc I could turn all the pictures I downloaded from the iPhone.

SMan, good suggestion on the boneyard, I was in the aviation field for almost 30 years.

Kirah, We’re leaving Albuquerque tomorrow to go view the Very Large Array then head to White Sands then Las Cruces.

Went to Old Town Albuquerque and out to see the volcanoes.

Interestingly, I am not allowed to upload a photo that's more than around 350kb. It just says "sorry, too large" (or words to that effect).

Yeah, the square ones were still all sideways for me (but thanks for trying it). Luckily my laptop is light and easy to turn 90º.

But of course I'm still curious about it. So, question: Do you take your photos with your iPad/phone in "portrait" vs. "landscape"? Could that be it?
